Tell them that its the most simple way to communicate without a computer (or using a mobile phone). Tell them that it is important for a teenager to be in contact with other people (to be social) and also to organize in group projects (school work =,=). It's the best of both worlds and I don't see why your parents will say no to letting you text on your phone!

just explain texting is as common as putting on your clothes everyday and people do not ask if you have texting they just do it so when someone text you you get charged as well as when you text it is convient because if you need to tell them something and cannot use your phone you can send them a message so therefore you will not be able to say i could not talk on my phone get it you will not ok sometimes you have to let people think the advantage is theirs and they benefit but if you get it you gonna have to be true to your word and really text them if you can not use your phone maybe once they see the benefits of it they will understand
I just hacked my phone. they are paying for it ad they don't even know!
