I'm going on a four day Carnival Cruise in August to Cozumel. The ship, the Carnival Fantasy, leaves from New Orleans, La. I was wondering what would be the best thing to do while i'm down there such as: on the ship, shore excursions, and just walking around? I was also wondering if anyone else was going on the same cruise on August 2- August 6,2007? Oh yeah and if you have been on the boat can you please describe it? This will be my first cruise. BTW what are good things for teenagers to do? ThanksMy first cruise-advice for teenagers?
My teens love Carnival cruises!
The 24x7 pizzeria and ice cream are big hits with my girls.
The teen club takes over the disco until about 10:30 pm at night.
There is usually a basketball court and other outside activities.
You should get a set of the 2-way radios to use while on board. Gives the teens freedom and parents piece of mind. Plus, you don't have to waste time with check-ins and waiting around for someone to show up and getting in trouble when you don't.
There are tons of shore excursions in Cozumel. I highly recommend the Cavern by Jeep tour. You take the ferry to Playa del Carmen and drive a Jeep through Mexico to an underground river. You get to swim in the underground river and then back to the jeeps for a trip to a private beach and an authentic Mexican lunch then back to the jeeps.
Also, the dolphin experience was fun but expensive. My teens thought the submarine ride was boring.
Take plenty of $1, 5 and 10 in US dollars for shopping in the open air market in Cozumel. Bartering a part of the fun.
Take a back pack for hauling your stuff on shore. Either your clothes, towels or bringing back your shopping goodies. My first cruise-advice for teenagers?
I love the Fantasy. It was my first cruise. I was in Cozumel last Sept. We did not do any excursions, but I understand that Tulim is great. There is also a lot of watersports. We went on an island tour. If you want to do that, do not get a tour at the pier. We walked about a half mile down the road and got one from the same company for half price. If you port downtown, the shopping is great there. When on the ship, eat all of your meals in the dining room. I enjoy being up on the top deck, in front of the mini golf, just watching the ocean go by.
I left from Cozumel from New Orleans back in April. If you want something awesome to do in Cozumel, get your folks to book a snorkeling excursion to the second largest reef system in the ocean. It was awesome. After that, you can spend the rest of the time walking around downtown and shopping. Carlos n Charlies is right off the pier and it's a fun place to eat. There's people acting crazy and the waiters are tons of fun.
On the boat, sign up for the teen club. You'll get to hang out with everyone your age. It will be a blast. The teen club on the ship I was on ran nearly 24/7. They seemed to be having a big party the whole time. The best part is hanging out with people your own age.
You're going to have a great time.
heyy my mom said to prolly take some type of sea sick medication or something a couple days before you get on the ship incase of sea sickness,
do you have a myspace or AIM?
i'm 14 and I'll be going on my 4th carnival cruise on the 23rd. just think of it as a Hotel in the middle of the ocean.
be prepared to dance!! lol. Every ship is different and I havent been on the fantasy, but the ones I have been on are not fun unless you arent afraid to dance!! lol. like the electric slide, cha cha slide...and the deck party is SO much fun.
and do not miss out on your scheduled dinner...it's optional but it is worth it. i hope the group you're with isnt shy because if you connect with your waitor, then they will make it so much fun for you!
you will feel like royalty cuz it's like the staff on the ship bows down to you.
