Hey Hun,

I was a lot like you growing up. I couldn't wear the 'in' clothing, but ate healthy. I did however get exercise. Sorry to here about the knees, but there are things you can do that won't hurt them.

Try swimming. But if the whole bathing suit thing doesn't work for you (it didn't for me) try to go to your local rec centre and ride the recumbent bike. It's easy on the knees and back, usually has a TV attached for entertainment AND gives you a fabulous set of legs and butt when you use it a lot!!!

As for diet, your's sounds pretty good! Just make sure that you are eating proper portions! Anything can make you gain weight it you are over eating it. And if you can, choose whole grain or whole wheat products. Limit fruits, and pig out of veggies when you are hungry!!!!

Also, don't skip breakfast. Your body will automatically turn the next thing you eat into fat and store it!!! Make sure you eat within two hours of waking up. Even if it's some fruit or a light granola bar!

Look for low fat dairy options. Try snacking on popcorn (no butter or salt). You can eat a TON of it so that you feel full, but it's only a few calories. I know plain popcorn isn't exciting at first, but you will get used to it, I swear!

Try cutting out juice and pop. Again, water is not fun, but a cold glass of water helps your body burn calories to loose weight.

On sandwhiches and other food, cut out butter and mayonaise. You will learn to love the foods without them. It just takes discipline.

If you combo all the little things, it will have a BIG impact, but you have to be strong and make a pact with yourself to make the changes!

They are all healthy changes and will be best for you in the long run!

Lastly, try to remember you are still in puberty! I was BIG for a very long time, no matter what I did...then one summer I shot up in height, and BAM, I was lookin' good!!! I know it sucks to hear that, but healthy changes will make a big difference!

Feel free to message me if you want some more help or inspiration!!

Good luck!!!!!Over weight teenager needs advice?(extended)?
Are you on medication? That may be causing you to gain and hold your weight. In that case, it can be really hard to lose it.

How long have you been eating like this? If you've just started, then it's going to take time. Stick with it though.

If you're really serious about losing weight, then cut out all bottled juice and soda. Diet soda isn't even the best you can buy. Try to buy farm-raised fish and meat instead of the crap you buy at grocery stores. Stay away from all frozen food and tv meals. Limit yourself to one glass of milk a day, limit your condiments, and limit what you put on your salads. %26amp;When you eat out, limit yourself to one meal. Don't order two+ orders of anything, and don't get large combo meals.

As for exercising, do it in a pool if you can (not water aerobics.) It's low impact and is pretty good for injuries. It's also easy to over-do it though... so don't do too much. If you can stand it, walk thirty minutes each day. Even if you just walk around your yard. I know how hard it is trying to even walk when you hurt really bad though. Don't do anything that will make it worse.
Ask the doctor that you see for your knees to recommend a low-stress form of exercise. Some that come to mind are stationary, recumbent bicycle, and swimming. Someone who is familiar with your medical history should be able to recommend an exercise program for you. Your body needs exercise not just to lose weight, but for long-term health and emotional balance.

You need to eat breakfast, that is the most important meal of the day. Have some oatmeal (if you like it, I don't), or an egg on an English muffin, or a fruit smoothie. There are lots of things you can have for breakfast. They can even be unconventional breakfast food such as tuna. I actually like a tuna sandwich and coffee for breakfast.

Watch add-ons to salad, such as dressing, croutons, and Bac-o's. all of these things turn a healthy salad into a dietary nightmare. Oil and vinegar is the healthiest salad dressing and it can be seasoned with oregano or Italian seasoning to make it tasty. A good quality olive oil and red wine or balsamic vinegar should be quite flavorful and add zing to your salad.

Get a complete physical workup, including a blood test for thyroid function.

Act now so you can establish some healthy habits you can live with throughout your life. You will also improve your long-term health and self-esteem. Good luck.
if you are trying to lose weight...always, always, always eat breakfast...it really is the most important meal of the day especially for a teenager like you. Everyone should exercise at least 30 minutes a day and it doesn't have to be strenuous exercise...you could do anything from a light jog to a brisk walk...even a light walk as long as you do it for longer than 30 minutes. Also I don't want to sound mean but you need to be absolutely honest with yourself about what you eat on a daily basis...because a girl who eats like you say you do, unless they have a medical disorder other than weight, would not be overweight. Also if someone says something like you can afford to skip a meal don't listen cause if you do your body stops excreting some calories that it normally would and just retains it to maintain itself. It's going to be hard work cause your body will always remember the weight you are now and it wants to maintain and stay where its at...you have to fight it...Good Luck
